COURSE DESCRIPTION :
 
Study of European & International Licensing Agreements, as well the protection of intellectual property rights (treaties dealing with the international protection of patents, trademarks and copyrights will be examined). After the most important elements of business that deal with intellectual property, we will concentrate on traditional business i.e. buying and selling goods on an international scale and according to European Law. Finally, if we have any time, expansion of international business by moving to another country will be examined.
 
COURSE OBJECTIVES :
 
This course intends to accustom the students with the legal requirements that will help them draft their European & International Licensing Contracts. In addition they will be able to protect their intellectual property rights worldwide. The research paper will help to develop their analytical skills. Study of the Vienna Convention on international sale contracts and the EU regulations will assist them in the legal issues involved in their future commercial transactions.
 
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES:
 
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
? Draft the particular provisions of their international licensing agreements
? Be able to protect their intellectual property on an international scale
? Be aware about the legal issues involved in their international & European sale transactions
? Develop their oral skills due to the oral presentation of their research material in class, and their spontaneous answers to the lectures in class
? Develop their research skills due to their investigations for their research papers and due to the new concept being introduced this year that will be explained in class (additional readings about topics to be announced in class)
? Develop each student?s analytical skills and writing talents due to the research paper
