Course description 
This is a course that brings students’ fluency of cinematic language to a more advanced stage by expanding upon and synthesizing the shooting and editing techniques.  The class introduces the conceptual and technical framework necessary to shoot and edit dual‐system sound films, block and shoot dialogue scenes, perform dramatic analysis to scripts, and apply that analysis to more sophisticated use of camera work and complex editing strategies.

Course Learning Objectives 
At the end of the course, students will be able to: 
1. Apply dramatic analysis to scripts to determine a  rhetorical strategy in blocking and camera placement. 
2. Demonstrate advanced creative use of continuity system concepts in blocking 
and shooting scenes to create dramatic meaning. 
3. Demonstrate the correct production and post‐production workflows for shooting 
dual‐system sound scenes. 
4. Apply advanced dialogue editing techniques to clarify and heighten dramatic effects in edited scenes.
