This module provides an insight into the importance of cinema as a key site for the construction of a national self-image. The module will adopt a range of theoretical, cultural and industrial approaches to the study of French cinema as a means of interrogating not only the term ‘national cinema’ itself but also as a means to understand the history of that cinema.
