Overview

Assessment: unseen written exam (2 hours) [50%], computer test portfolio [50%]
Prerequisite(s): successful completion of level 4 module set

The module is designed to provide further insight into the ecological and evolutionary processes by which the diversity of life on earth has arisen and is maintained. Building on Biodiversity and Ecology modules, this module expands on the history and processes of Evolution (Darwin, natural selection, speciation) and principles and patterns in Ecology, ranging from local to global scales. This module will go beyond discussing ecological and evolutionary processes in isolation but highlight intimate links between them, including the main ‘eco-evolutionary’ theories that connect these fields of research; and which are likely to provide key insights into biological responses to environmental change.
