A key element in establishing quality provision for children in the early years is to ensure that not only are there adequate numbers of appropriately trained and qualified staff, but also that they are effectively deployed working together as a team with a shared vision. One of the most salient developments in recent years in relation to the roles of practitioners in early years settings has been the development of multi-professional teams characterised by national initiatives such as the Children?s Centre programmes. This has highlighted the importance of collegiality, corporate leadership, the leadership and management of practitioners from diverse professions and how to manage change effectively and positively.
