Assessment: essay (2000 words) [50%], unseen exam (2 hours) [50%]

This module will introduce and critically reflect upon HIV/AIDS – and, by extension, global health and the politics of disease management – through the lens of recent developments in the response to the epidemic. It will give the students a solid knowledge of major themes and shifts in the anthropological analysis of the AIDS pandemic and engender critical and multi-perspectivist thinking.
