Overview
Assessment: essay on publishing-related topic agreed with tutor (3500 words) [70%]; portfolio of publishing-related exercises [30%] [an overall pass is required]
This module provides an introduction to the fast-changing world of publishing, and different ways of working with words, anchored in an understanding of past and current trends. Through directed readings and practical assignments, it looks behind the public face of texts to understand the steps that occur after an author 'finishes' a text. Students have unique access to the practical workings of our in-house imprint, Fincham Press.
Note: Publishing: from Book to Internet can combine with the 20-credit Creative Dissertation module offered in the spring to become one of the creative disseration 40-credit pathways offered to single-honours students.
