The aim of this module is to ground students in contemporary political theory. John Rawls is the leading figure in contemporary political philosophy. This module has as its central focus the philosophy of liberal egalitarianism contained in John Rawls? Theory of Justice. The module will focus on central arguments in Rawls? book and critical responses that Rawls? work has raised from Libertarian, Socialist, Communitarian and Feminist philosophers.
