Overview

This module will integrate the application of biomechanics in sport and exercise, and it will include: the improvement of performance, prevention of injury, and the use of protective equipment such as ankle and knee braces. From a practical viewpoint this will involve the use of new devices and apparatus for the assessment purposes linking theory with practical work. It will also enable the student to apply data resulting from scientific measurement toward the improvement of performance in sport. The module will also examine the biomechanical aspects of sport injuries in the upper and lower extremities. Aetiology, prevention, immediate and long term rehabilitation procedures are considered with the role of Sport and Exercise Science.
