Assessment: 2 analytic commentaries (1500 words each), formative and peer assessment (1000 words equiv.) [all elements are required; both commentaries must be passed]
This module focuses on young children?s developing understanding of symbolic languages. It aims to offer the student insight, understanding and the means to reflect critically on theoretical perspectives and research on play, representation, creativity and imagination in young children's learning. It draws on theory and research from a range of different disciplinary perspectives and considers the wider implications for adults? roles.
