Students must enroll in 120 - 165 contact hours during their five-week summer program. This program is open to students at the advanced Spanish proficiency level.

Students are required to enroll in the Business Internship course to complement their internship component. Students have the option of enrolling in an additional Spanish or English course.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of the students’ home institutions. According to ISA policy and possible visa requirements, students must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by their home institutions, for the duration of the program.

The contact hour at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso is 45 minutes. The ISA Cover Letter that will accompany your transcript upon completion of your program will reflect the adjusted U.S. 50-minute contact hour and updated transfer credit recommendations. Please discuss credit transfer with your home university prior to departure. 

Students participating in this program are required to interview with the Program Coordinator at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso prior to acceptance into the program. The purpose of the interview is to ensure that students meet the required language level to succeed in the program.

Enrollment in Spanish courses is determined by the results of a language placement exam administered by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Please note that your performance on the placement exam may not reflect the number of semesters of language instruction you've already completed at your home university.
