Overview
Objectives/Description
This course covers limits, continuity, first and higher derivatives, and the differential, with
applications to graphing, rates of change, and optimization methods; techniques of
integration and applications; introduction to multivariate calculus
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to:
? Calculate limits of functions at given points.
? Analyze continuity of functions and differentiate functions.
? Understand the differences between average and instantaneous rates of change.
? Understand algebraically and graphically the concept of derivative.
? Solve simple optimization problems.
? Analyze graphs, by finding extrema, points of inflection and asymptotes.
Integrate functions.
? Interpret the integral of a function.
? Apply the fundamental theorem of calculus.
? Use data analysis software to describe real data and prepare a business report.
