Foundations and / or justification This course is designed for students of Spanish as a second language have a basic mastery of the language in morphosyntactic aspects, lexical-semantic and phonetic-phonological, so it must have passed the basic level 1. Throughout the course, develop their oral communication skills, enabling you to cope effectively and efficiently in everyday situations.

Justification This course is designed for Spanish as a second language students who have a basic mastery of the language in morphosyntactic, lexical-semantic and phonetic-phonological areas, they also must have completed SPN-101 Basic Spanish Level. Throughout the course, students develop their oral communication skills, enabling them to cope effectively and efficiently in everyday situations.

General objectives: Instructional After completing this course, students will have improved their oral communication skills and strengthened their knowledge of grammar and basic vocabulary and pronunciation. Educational The student will be able to interact successfully in communicative situations.

Specific objectives:
To achieve the overall objectives, the student must:
1. Describe himself and others.
2. Converse about family.
3. Describe places and objects.
4. Identify physical, cultural policies and Hispanic countries.
5. Distinguish features of the climate and the seasons.
6. Express likes, desires and preferences.
7. Explain daily routine activities.
8. Narrate past experiences and historical events.
9. Speculate on the future
10. Give orders, instructions, suggestions and recommendations.
11. Practice pronunciation.
12. To reaffirm the basic vocabulary learned.
13. Expand the lexicon.

Methodological guidance
The basic methodological framework of the course is the communicative approach, in
which the transmission of the content is a priority. In this way, communicative competence
is the combination of skills such as grammar, sociolinguistics, discourse and pragmatics,
defined the latter as the study of language use in different communicative contexts.
The main objective in the approach used is to ensure the ability to communicate effectively
in the target language, taking into account the development of the four skills (with
emphasis on the skills of speaking and listening) and didactic components. Educational
components are made up of thematic areas as the communication needs of learners, to
develop functions and grammatical structures and vocabulary necessary to carry out
interactions in specific sociocultural contexts.
By selecting materials developed for a specific educational purpose and implementation of
various activities and participation, provides an opportunity for the student to develop their
communicative competence in the target language and culture.

Learning Strategies
To achieve the proposed objectives, students will attend scheduled classes and seminars
to perform extra tasks. Participatory communication activities carried out individually, in
pairs and in groups, by reading articles on specific topics, interviews, oral presentations,
games, puzzles, simulations, songs and video.

Morphosyntactic:
1 - Present, past and future indicative of regular and irregular verbs. 2 - Applications to be, be, have, have done. 3 - Special verbs: like, love, annoy, interest and hurt. 4 - Reflexive verbs.
Lexical-semantic: 1 - Qualifying adjectives. 2 - The family. 3 - The House. 4 - The countries. 5 - Weather. 6 - clothes. 7 - The food. 8 - Sports 9 - The human body. 10 - Personal hygiene. 11 - The disease and its symptoms. Phonetic-phonological:
Pronunciation of vowels and consonants.

Schedule
Week 1: Description of people (self and others). Week 2: Description of family and kinship relations. Week 3: Description of places and objects.
Week 4: Identification of the characteristics of seasonal climate. Week 5: Expression of tastes, desires and preferences. Week 6: Description of activities of daily routine. Week 7: Personal future plans. Week 8: Challenges humanity faces for the future. Week 9: Orders and instructions. Week 10: Suggestions and recommendations. Week 11: Narration of personal experiences. Week 12: Narrative of historical events.

Audience
This course is structured for international students attending the universities Study Abroad program at Veritas.

Attendance
Students are allowed only 2 absences (Justified or not). The student will fail the course if he / she has more than 2 absences. Students will obtain a 0 on any assignment evaluated in class (presentations, Evaluations, field trips, etc..) If he / she is absent in this class, unless an official document to justify the absence is presented.
You can only have a total of two absences in your elective courses. However, if you miss more than one day of class in a given month, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT for that particular course. Behavior
Professors have the right to expel a student from the classroom should he / she: 1) Be disruptive in the classroom 2) Be under the influence of alcohol
3) Behave in a disrespectful way. If you tend to be late for class, you will lose 25% of your total grade
