Students will enroll in the following:

  • International Missions Practicum Veritas course required 
  • Renaissance & Reformation Veritas course required when minimum enrollment is met​
  • Three-four other courses at the American Business School Paris

Veritas Courses

Renaissance and Reformation Europe (3 credits) 

A study of the Renaissance and the Reformation, including such leaders as Luther, Calvin, Zwingli and Knox. (Download syllabus here) 

 

International Missions/Service Learning Practicum (1-3 credits)

The practicum will enrich the program and mission experience through reflection assignments, research, and journaling. Participation is required in order to enhance the mission experience. Students will receive one credit upon completing the assignments and service participation. Students may elect to submit a log of hours for up to two additional credits. (Download syllabus here)

Spring 2a 2018 Institut Catholique: French Language & Liberal Arts (February 11, 2018 - May 19, 2018)

*Students may add the February Intensive Month as a preface to this program.

Classmates are international and American students, and courses are taught by host university faculty. 

All students take a two-part French language placement exam: one portion before departure and the other upon arrival in Paris. The exam will indicate the student's language proficiency level, and will determine the courses in which the student is eligible to enroll.

  • Students who place into the True Beginning (A1-1), Beginning (A1-2),
  • Students who place into the True Beginning (A1-1), Beginning (A1-2), High Beginning (A2-1) or Low Intermediate (A2-2) levels are required to take a French language course.
  • Students placing into the True Beginning (A1-1) or Beginning (A1-2) levels can take one English class in addition to French language per semester.
  • Students placing into the High Beginning (A2-1) or Low Intermediate (A2-2) can take up to 3 French civilization courses or 2 English courses in addition to French language per semester.

Scheduling: Culture & Civilization courses are typically in the afternoon, and French language courses are in the morning. To avoid course scheduling conflicts, it is recommended that students take a combination of French language and culture courses.

  • Please Note: courses are subject to change. Course syllabi available upon request.
Please use the following only as a guideline to determine what each student's language level may be. Each semester/quarter is of COLLEGE-LEVEL French or the equivalent of:

True Beginning (A1-1): 0 Semesters/0-2 Quarters
Beginning (A1-2): 0-2 Semesters/0-3 Quarters
High Beginning (A2-1): 1-2 Semesters/2-3 Quarters
Low Intermediate (A2-2): 2-3 Semesters/3-5 Quarters
Intermediate (B1-1): 3-5 Semesters/5-8 Quarters
High Intermediate (B1-2): 3-6 Semesters/5-9 Quarters
Advanced (B2-1): 4-7 Semesters/6-11 Quarters
High Advanced (B2-2): 5-8 Semesters/8-12 Quarters
Superior (C1): 6+ Semesters/9+ Quarters
*Please note that a student's French language level in France is based on the standards of the French university.

 

Veritas Course(s)

Participation in both Veritas courses is required in order to enhance the Veritas experience.
